Extreme Climate and Environment Photography

The Earth is an amazing planet with so many wonderful places to photograph.

When Earth rotates around the sun, light is produced, forming a variation of light. Light is what is required in any natural photographic project. The master of light is a highly specialised skill in photography. Yes you can set a camera to auto mode and let the camera or digital device take the photo, but then you compromise certain elements within the photograph that may be impacted by more or less light on the subject being photographed. Taking control of the camera's settings, the photographer controls the light required for the desired photograph and become a master of light.

Having an understanding of the full spectrum of light. Light which is filtered through our atmosphere and knowing the effects, colour and direction of light, tonal range, shadows and the final image, is a skill that photographers acquire through experience, education and ultimately their talent in the field of photography.

Light is difficult to capture correctly as it can change so quickly and within nanoseconds depending on what is photographed.

The professional photographer is accustomed to this and is ready for these varied changes and should know within a second the required knowledge to accomodate these extreme light changes that will effect the overall photographic image taken. This is why professional single lens reflex cameras or any non-mirrored digital cameras have manual camera settings, in order to allow the photographer to control the light through the lens.

Photographing extreme natural environmental changes can be one of the most challenging ways to increase your expertise within the camera. The knowledge of light and how it effects the final image increases your understanding of light and ultimately the image photographed will be much better.

Artistic Photography has professionally photographed landscapes for over 34 years and is highly experienced in extreme environmental landscape photography. Photographing storms, clouds, oceans, sunrises, sunsets and astrological events. Some of the environmental events that Artistic Photography have photographed are unique as they have been there at that particular moment or have travelled to photograph it.

In particular Artistic Photography's award winning photographer, Karl Ernhardt loves photographing the ocean. Passionate about surfing and have surfed many great locations of some of the most rugged coastlines in the world, experiencing the extremes of nature and weather events on land and sea has truely help with the understanding of extreme weather conditions.

Artistic Photography is also always considerate of the environmental impacts when photographing any projects. When ocean diving and taking underwater photos, care is always taken not to disturb the coral reefs at any given location and looking after the flora and fauna when hiking. Artistic Photography has a deep appreciation of our planet, Earth. The universe it belongs to and most of all the natural environment.
